Dallas Derby Devils Lip Sync Battle Rules & Guidelines

Event Date: Saturday, June 7 during DDD Home Game #2

Performance Times: Performances will be before Game 1, during halftime of the first game, and during intermission before Game 2

Winner Announced: Halftime of Game 2

Location: Nytex Sports Center, North Richland Hills TX; Main Track Area (all performances will occur on the track surface)

Objective

The DDD Lip Sync Battle is your chance to hit the track, steal the spotlight, and bring the house down—all without saying a word! This high-energy halftime event invites skaters and fans alike to channel their inner rockstars, pop icons, and dance-floor legends in fun, over-the-top lip sync performances. It’s all about entertainment, creativity, and crowd connection. Plus, every vote cast helps raise funds to support the league. Bring the drama, bring the moves, and bring the fun!

Eligibility

• Open to anyone willing to strut their stuff and silently belt their heart out in front of our Home Game 2 crowd (this includes home team skaters, juniors, superfans, and anyone else you can think of)

• Participants may enter as a solo act or in a group of 5 or less

• All entrants must be able to perform during one of the designated performance windows

• Entry form and payment must be submitted by Friday, May 30th

Entry & Voting

• Entry & Payment Due: Friday, May 30th

• Entry Fee: $50 per group act, $25 for a solo act

• Voting Fee: $1 per vote (audience may vote as many times as desired)

• Voting will be open during the event; the act with the most votes will be announced at halftime of Game 2

Performance Rules

1. Time Limit: Performances must not exceed 3 minutes

2. Content:

• Songs must be submitted for prior approval to ensure availability and appropriateness in line with DDD culture

• Acts must be family-friendly and inclusive in nature

3. Safety, Props & Track Use:

• All costumes, props, and accessories must be provided by the participants

• No confetti, glitter, powder, liquids, fire, or other materials that may damage the track or create safety hazards

• All props must be safe for use on the track surface

• Participants may not bring items that require additional setup or cleanup time

• Participants may wear clean footwear or skates, but should avoid anything that could leave marks or residue on the surface

• If you elect to be on skates for this performance, you must be in full gear (skates, helmet, elbow pads, wrist guards, and knee pads)

• All performances will take place on the derby track on sport court

Technical Requirements

• Music choices must be submitted in advance to Production Lead

• Last-minute music changes may not be accommodated

• Microphones will not be used—this is a lip sync only performance

Judging & Winner Selection

• The winner will be determined by audience vote ($1 per vote)

• The act with the highest number of votes will be announced during halftime of Game 2

• Winners will be chosen for each of the following categories:

• Overall Crowd Favorite - (crowd pick) this is for your overall favorite, the act that stole your heart and that deserves the whole shebang

• Most Creative - (announcer pick) this could be via song selection or costumes and props

• Dancing Devils - (announcer pick) this goes to the act with the best dance moves to accompany their song
