What are your non-derby hobbies/activities/hidden talents?
Before I started this roller derby adventure, I actually used to teach swing and ballroom dancing! I know how to do the lindy hop, balboa, shag, west coast swing, salsa, cha cha, etc! Other than that, I have always been super crafty and have been known to dabble in photography and graphic design (among other things).
Is there anything you're scared to try?
Without a doubt skydiving. I am definitely a thrill seeker, just can’t rationalize jumping out a plane with just a parachute strapped to my back!

DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE DERBY MEMORY?
One of my favorite memories so far and likely always would be when I got my first lead jam at B-team Champs at the end of last season. It was my first game ever with Battalion of Doom, and I remember getting through the pack and hearing the whistle. My jam ref was pointing at me! I was Lead! I heard the Dallas bench erupt in cheers. I could not help but cheer back.

HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH YOUR DERBY NAME?
When I went to try out for derby I had no idea what my chances of making it were. I didn’t want to make a big investment just for tryouts so I went to Dick’s sporting goods and bought some Barbie skates to try out in. During tryouts everyone called me Barbie because of my skates. Afterwards we went out and everyone discovered my love for Whiskey/ Bourbon and then my name, Bourbon Barbie was born.

My best friend brought me to my first bout. I was just amazed. I saw them get hit and bounce right back up. It was my first derby game. They happened to be passing out tryout flyers that day. I was hooked ever since.
